Gael Abary is a first generation Filipino-American. In her youth, she loved to draw, dance and skateboard. She was forced to take piano lessons but, like most people, she didn't enjoy things she was forced to do. Despite her parents' wishes for her to become a nurse, she went on to study metalsmithing and product design at Parsons School of Design while working as an illustrator in the fashion industry. After college she continued illustrating, and painted and travelled as often as possible. She later worked for a NYC based jewelry company for several years before moving to Woodstock, NY where her daughter was born. She now resides in Philadelphia, PA with her partner, their 6 year old, one cat and one greyhound. She dreams of making picture books and learning to play the piano.
